The College and the Wellcome Trust have established a fund to support our researchers to stimulate interdisciplinary research
The Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) scheme provides Imperial College London with funds to develop and embed areas of mutual strategic importance to Wellcome and The College within and across:
> biomedical science
> population health
> product development and applied research
> humanities and social science
> equality and diversity
> public engagement and creative industries.
A range of schemes are available to connect our excellent research capabilities to address the Wellcome Trust Research challenges.
We particularly encourage applications from female scientists and scientists from diverse backgrounds who are underrepresented in these schemes.

ISSF Springboard Fellowships
ISSF Springboard Fellowships provide flexible funding for up to 12 months for early career researchers who have not yet had an external fellowship application accepted, and can demonstrate they are on track for a successful research career.
Multidisciplinary applications are strongly encouraged. We also encourage applications from female scientists and scientists from diverse backgrounds who are currently underrepresented in this scheme.

Global Health Clinical Research Training Fellowships
These 1-year Global Health Clinical Research Training Fellowships support early-career clinical professionals wishing to undertake research, at least in part overseas, to improve the health of people and reduce health inequalities in developed and developing countries.

Imperial Post-Doctoral, Post-CCT Research Fellowship (IPPRF)
The Imperial Post-Doctoral, Post-CCT Research Fellowship (IPPRF) scheme is jointly funded by the Imperial College London Faculty of Medicine and the Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund.
The purpose of this fellowship is to draw on the research strengths of Imperial to attract early stage clinical academics finishing clinical training to work towards Clinician Scientist, Wellcome Trust or other externally funded clinical research mid-level awards.
There will be up to three opportunities, offering two-year awards, to talented individuals who possess the potential to become leaders in academic medicine. Applicants must be fully qualified medical doctors, have been awarded a PhD or MD within the last 4 years and hold a CCT, or be within 12 months of obtaining CCT (or equivalent) at the time of application.

Career Re-Entry Fellowship Scheme
Applications are invited for a Daphne Jackson Fellowship that will be half sponsored by Imperial College London and hosted within any of our four Faculties.
The fellowship is intended for individuals returning to research part time (0.5 FTE) after a career break of two or more years. This fellowship will be part-funded by the Wellcome Trust ISSF, so the proposed research area should fall within their science remit.
Please note: The application process for a Daphne Jackson Fellowship is very different to any other in the STEM area. Find out if you are eligible for a Daphne Jackson Fellowship.

Translational Networks of Excellence
The Translational Networks of Excellence scheme - run as part of the Imperial Confidence in Concept scheme - supports novel translational collaborations across disciplines, partner institutions and commercial entities.
We invite proposals for pilot or feasibility work for translational research, to support knowledge transfer, test or develop new methods, or proof of concept studies.
Projects will be in the range of £40-80,000 for a maximum of 1 year, we expect to support up to 7 projects per annum.

The Public Engagement funding from the Wellcome Trust’s ISSF enables Imperial to provide support to staff and students interested in engagement, including developing resources and communicating opportunities to get involved. We have many more capacity-building activities planned, including as part of our training programme and Societal Engagement Seed Fund. Please contact the engagement team to discuss how we could help.
